Failure to Pay a Fine in Miami, FL
What Happens if I Fail to Pay a Fine?
When a person commits a criminal offense or a traffic violation, he/she
may be told by his/her local court that he/she must pay a fine to the
court. Once ordered to pay a fine, people must make their payments within
a set amount of time. If they fail to make their payment to the court,
they can be charged with "failure to pay a fine."
Once a person fails to pay a fine, the court may issue an arrest warrant
in the person’s name. After an
arrest warrant has been issued, law enforcement has the right to arrest the person immediately
onsite. The person will then be brought before the court and he/she may
face further legal action for his/her failure to pay his/her fine. In
some cases, the person’s fine may be increased or the person may
be placed in jail.
